Unique Ways to Remember Your Loved One on Thanksgiving
A loved one who has passed away may not be physically present with you, but the memories of the time you spent together is a valued treasure. Just as Thanksgiving Day is a joyous time to spend with family and friends, it is also a time to remember your loved one who is no longer with you. This remembrance can be silent, private or open and inclusive. Here are some ways to remember this special person on Thanksgiving Day:
1. Use Greeting Cards
If you have exchanged greeting cards with the loved one, you can make a collage of these cards to wallpaper an area in your home. Ask friends and family to share the greeting cards they received from the departed person and use these in the collage as well.
2. A Memory Tree
When reading memories is preferred to speaking about them, making a memory tree is the answer. You can cut out colored paper in the shape of leaves, write your memory on it and start sticking them on branches of a paper tree stuck on a wall. Your friends too can add more leaves with their memories written on leaves.
3. Organize A Drive
You can sell some of the personal belongings of your loved one or put together an event to raise funds. Donate the proceeds to a charity that the deceased supported. You can raise a larger fund by asking his or her friends to join the cause and organize a drive that everyone will remember. It could become an annual event!
4. Cook A Meal
When you cook the favorite dish of a departed person, it helps revive fond memories of times you shared with them. So cooking a meal or a dish and sharing it with friends and family is a nice way to memorialize the person.
