There are a number of ways to honor and memorialize a decedent and provide solace to the family left behind. Most families want the memorial service to be comforting, familiar, and personal so they can say their goodbyes and feel connected to the decedent. Here are some unique and interesting ways in which you can memorialize a loved one:

1. Donate to Charities in Their Name

This is a great way to honor the memory of the decedent as family members and guests will do good in their name. The family can choose a cause or charity close to the decedent’s heart and arrange for the donations accordingly. For example, is the decedent supported the cause of sick and ailing children, the family can arrange for donations to the local children’s hospital.

2. Plant a Tree

This is another example of doing something good in the decedent’s name. Trees last for a long time and grow as the years pass by. They provide greenery and shelter, and are good for the environment. The family can plant the decedent’s favorite plant or tree on their property or a public ground in their loved one’s name and watch it thrive. The tree will become the representation of the deceased individual and provide comfort to the family.

3. Share Memories

Family members can create a collage or a video montage of all the special moments and memories they shared with the decedent. They can create copies of the pictures or videos and share it with others so everyone is comforted by the memories. This helps family members and guests recall the good times they had with the deceased individual.
