Different ways to Personalize an Obituary
As many of you have seen before, obituaries are published in newspapers and online as a way to pay tribute when a death occurs. Naturally, in an obituary, the birth and death date are stated and clarify the arrangements for the deceased’s funeral to notify friends and family.
In order to personalize an obituary, it must be different from any other. It has to include an in-depth summary of the deceased’s life and describe who they distinctively were as an individual. Obituaries are an important part of paying tribute and respect and made unique in a way that reflects the person they were. The following are some ways in which you can portray a true reflection.
Stories – Everyone has their own stories that they can share. Ask around to family and friends on times that they have shared with the deceased. Stories are a good way to narrow down personalization as it is an experience irreplaceable to the deceased.
Good memories – This is an opportunity to write something down that means a lot to you personally. Perhaps talk about the impact the deceased had on your life. Whether they supported you through a difficult time, positive character traits they possessed, or that one time with them you will never forget.
Hobbies and Skills – What did your loved one love to do? What were they passionate about? Talk about the skills they had that made them who they were. Perhaps they made the best lasagna you have ever tasted, spent time at charitable events or settings, or was most relaxed when reading or painting.
Use Examples – When you are writing about these stories, memories and character traits that made the foundation of your love one, use specific examples. Examples bring smiles to the faces of the friends and families who are reading, as they think back to these moments you are expressing.
This representation of the deceased is one that you will have in writing for a lifetime. It is a piece of the memories you will hold onto as you let go of the physical body and times of your loved one.
